The first 24-hour "Cupcake ATM" opened in New York City on Lexington Avenue in the Upper East Side.

Sprinkles Cupcake bakery opened the vending machine adjacent to their store in the city and keep it stocked with fresh cupcakes all day. People select their flavor, swipe their credit card, and the cupcake is dispensed.

Despite the name, it doesn't serve a dual purpose as an automatic teller machine, but ACM probably doesn't have the same ring to it.

The idea for the Cupcake ATM was inspired when Sprinkles co-founder Candace was having pregnancy cravings for cupcakes in the middle of the night and decided there should be a way to satisfy them. The cupcakes run about $4 and customers have flocked to the cupcake mecca.

"It's awesome. It's so exciting. I love cupcakes. Sprinkles is my favorite so it's super exciting and I hope they put more ATMs around the city with cupcakes," said one customer.
