August Anderus said he was taking a bike path to school Wednesday morning in Halmstad when he encountered the elk in a suburban area, The Local.se reported Friday. Advertisement "I was bloody scared," Anderus told the Expressen newspaper. "I thought I was going to die. "It was the female who came up to me first and I hit the brakes hard. Then two calves came up on my left hand side and there was another one behind me," the 9-year-old said. He said the mother and her children ran away, but an aggressive male then attacked him from behind. He said the elk stood on its hind legs and kicked him in the back four times. "Oh boy, it was frightening, but it didn't hurt so much," he said. Anderus was able to make it to his school, where a teacher notified the boy's family and the authorities. Police said they have given local hunters permission to shoot the aggressive male.
