ST. JO, Texas, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- A Texas man said he was not seriously injured when he was struck by lightning twice at a Rednecks with Paychecks event.

Casey Wagner, 31, who works as a rodeo clown, said he was attending the off-road racing event Saturday in St. Jo, Texas, when severe weather rolled in and he was left standing under a tree with his friend's father, KTVT-TV, Dallas/Fort Worth reported Monday.

"What I remember is just a loud boom and it dropped me to my knees and then it hit me again," Wagner said. "When I got hit, it was just two big ol' flashes and then sparks went everywhere."

Wagner said the electricity shot up through his left boot, went through his chest and shot out through his left wrist.

"I had discoloration where it would have popped out," he said.

Wagner was taken to Nacona General Hospital.

"At the hospital they said the poncho I was wearing was carrying static because it was one of those plastic ones," he said.

He said his heartbeat was initially irregular and he lost feeling in his left leg and left arm, but by the next day the only lasting effects were shakes and jitters.

"I've got all the feeling back. It just feels like my whole body is waking up from ... like if your arm falls asleep. That's how my whole body feels," he said.
