Two teens asked to leave McDonald's for bringing in table items

LONDON, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Two teenage boys were asked to leave a McDonald's in England after bringing their own cutlery, tablecloth and wine glasses to their table, they said.

Cameron Ford and Adam Welland dressed in shirts and ties and brought the table setting, and a friend acting as photographer, to the restaurant in the Kingston section of London to bring some "class" to the fast food chain, the British newspaper The Telegraph reported Monday.

While restaurant patrons and staff seemed amused, one employee objected to the pair bringing their own knives and forks. He was quickly overruled by those in the restaurant, and the pair stayed to the end of their meal, the newspaper said.

The photographs, one of which was inscribed by Ford, "Cheers to my beautiful boyfriend on our special night. Love you, Adam," have been a viral sensation on the Internet since they were posted.

Welland later clarified the two are not in a relationship, and the meal and Internet photos were for their amusement. He added they were "asked to leave," instead of "kicked out."

A McDonald's spokesman mentioned, in a statement, the restaurant offers "plastic cutlery to those customers who request it," and asked that "items brought in by customers, such as cups or plates, are used responsibly."
