AVIGNON, France, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- A check of a trash bin at a McDonald's in France turned up an envelope of cash left behind by a customer, police said.

The customer stopped for lunch at the Golden Arches in Avignon earlier this week and left full but without his backpack, which contained the 25,000 euros ($33,350) he had made in a recent real estate transaction.

The pack was gone when he raced back several minutes later; however, employees the next day discovered the missing envelop and its contents buried in the trash bin behind the restaurant.

The said Avignon police contacted the frantic customer and returned the envelope. No word on whether the backpack itself was found or if a thief had dumped the contents and waked away with it.
