HOLLYWOOD, Fla., July 11 (UPI) -- A Florida woman celebrated her 107th birthday with a party at the hospital where she volunteers as a knitter of hats for newborns.

Mazie Ford celebrated her June 28 birthday Wednesday at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, where she started knitting hats for newborns after her 100th birthday, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Thursday.

Ford's live-in caregiver, daughter Johann Levinson, 85, says she is in good health.

"She takes less medications than I do," Levinson said.

Ford, who has two children, four grandchildren and a third great-grandchild due soon, said she doesn't know the secret to her long life.

"I can't really answer that. I've had a wonderful life and a wonderful family," Ford said. "Sometimes I feel a little achy. But I get up, kick my legs around a little, and I'm OK."
