IVES, England, April 10 (UPI) -- A British man who lost his wallet about 35 years ago said he was shocked to learn it was inside the walls of a gym he used to frequent. Richard Lane, 58, who lived in The Wilderness community in St. Ives, England, during the 1970s, said he was surprised to find out it had been discovered inside a wall at the One Leisure Center by construction workers Tony Noe and Richard Thompson, who were working on a redevelopment project at the gym, the Hunts Post in Huntingdon reported Wednesday. Advertisement Lane, who now lives in Evesham, said his mother and some friends who still live in the area alerted him when they learned of the wallet's discovery from an earlier Hunts Post story. "I thought that someone had stolen it. It looks like someone has taken about 10 pounds [$15.31] to 15 pounds [$22.97] out of it then chucked it into the lift shaft to hide it. I was living at my parents' home at the time and was free and single, so I spent a lot of time at the center, playing squash and swimming," Lane said. Advertisement Lane said the wallet still contains his driver's license, gym membership card, trade union membership card and receipts.
