PHILADELPHIA, March 22 (UPI) -- A 60-year-old Frenchman was arrested after he allegedly tried to impersonate an Air France pilot on a US Airways flight from Philadelphia to Florida.

Lt. John Walker of the Philadelphia Police said Jeannard's motive for the impersonation was unclear. When he first boarded the plane with a coach-class ticket, he asked a flight attendant for an upgrade to business class.

Jeannard then allegedly boarded the plane and went into the cockpit. While he had an Air France ID and was wearing an Air France shirt and a jacket with epaulets, he was unable to provide documentation the pilot requested.

He faces a number of charges, including criminal trespass and giving police false identification.
