ARLINGTON, Texas, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- A Texas golfer said he is awaiting word from Guinness World Records about whether his 14-foot, 2.5-inch driver qualifies as the world's longest usable club.

Michael Furrh, 44, the second assistant pro at Rolling Hills Country Club in Arlington, took a video of himself using his long club last month at the country club when he whacked a ball 146 yards, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Tuesday.

Furrh submitted the video and other evidence to Guinness in his claim to have created the world's longest usable club.

The previous record was set by Karsten Maas of Denmark in 2009. Maas, who used a 13-foot, 5-inch driver to hit a ball about 134 yards, posted a comment to Furrh's video on YouTube.

"Hi Michael," he wrote. "You just broke my nearly 4-year-old world record. Very well done! ... This is not so easy as it looks like!"
