MIAMI, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- The Florida owners of a unique feline with a half black, half calico face said they did not expect the cat to become an Internet celebrity.

The animal's Broward County owners, who identified themselves as Christina and Christiaan, said the YouTube page they set up for their unusual-looking cat, Venus, has been viewed more than 1.8 million times, and the feline's Facebook page has hundreds of thousands of "likes," WFOR-TV, Miami, reported Wednesday.

We never expected anything like this to happen," Christiaan said. "(We) just rolled with it and it's been an interesting journey so far."

The couple said they adopted Venus, who has one green eye and one blue eye, from a friend in North Carolina three years ago. They said the cat's online popularity soared when a stranger saw her picture and posted it to a popular website.

Christina said geneticists are unsure of the reason behind Venus' unusual look. The couple said they are considering DNA testing on the cat to find out what caused her asymmetrical face.
