SANFORD, Fla., Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said a monkey is headed for an animal refuge after leading police on a chase and injuring at least two people.

Zeke, a 4-year-old pigtail macaque, escaped from his backyard cage in Sanford Sunday and police said the animal caused minor injuries to two people while fleeing from officers, ABC News reported Monday.

Animal control officers closed off streets in the area and Zeke was captured unharmed by his owner, Jeff Jacques.

Zeke had been seen jumping on a police car and chewing on a satellite dish during the chase.

Jacques said the escape was Zeke's second since last month.

It was decided to take the money to an animal refuge.

"He's just too big, too strong, and he's going to get stronger," Jacques said.
