EDMONDS, Wash., July 18 (UPI) -- Authorities in Washington state said a suspicious powder found spread around an intersection turned out to be flour spread by a pair of crows.

Firefighters said a hazardous materials team was called to the Edmonds intersection Tuesday and traffic was diverted for more than an hour while the team worked to identify the substance, The (Everett) Daily Herald reported Wednesday.

"It turns out the white powdery substance is, in fact, flour," Snohomish County Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said.

A woman who had been jogging in the area earlier said she saw a pair of crows dragging a bag of flour.

"She took it away from them, put it in a garbage can and kept running," Hynes said. "Two crows and a two-alarm hazmat incident."
