
MURRIETA, Calif., June 15 (UPI) -- Police in California said they arrested an accused burglar after he allegedly left his phone behind at the scene of the crime.
Authorities said a Murrieta woman arrived home around 1 p.m. Monday and an intruder fled from inside her garage when she opened the door, The (Riverside, Calif.) Press-Enterprise reported Friday.
The woman discovered a safe from her bedroom had been taken to the garage and jewelry and cash were missing from inside the home.
Police said the woman discovered a cellphone she didn't recognize in her bedroom and officers traced the device to Kyle Thomas Lankford, 19, of Menifee. He was arrested Tuesday.
Lankford was taken to the Southwest Detention Center in French Valley on suspicion of burglary and a probation violation.
