Israeli president Shimon Peres joins Facebook

JERUSALEM, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Israeli President Shimon Peres says he wants people around the world to use his new Facebook page to ask him questions and suggest ideas.

Peres said his Facebook account, which went live on the Israeli version of the site Friday and will go live internationally following a March 6 ceremony at Facebook's San Francisco headquarters, will help him communicate with the people of the world, particularly young people in Arab countries, Ynetnews reported Friday.

The president said he is hoping people will use the Facebook page to ask him questions and make suggestions on how to promote peace in the region.

The President's Residence announced Peres' Facebook presence will be accompanied by similar initiatives on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
