MUMBAI, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- A 26-year-old man who previously made $29 per week has become the first to win India's version of the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" game show.

Sushil Kumar, who previously made $29 per week as a government computer operator in Bihar, answered every question correctly to become the game show's first champion in a scene evocative of Danny Boyle's 2008 film, "Slumdog Millionaire," The Sun reported Friday.

Kumar, who married Seema Patel in May, said he is now planning to pay off his family's debts and move them all into a large house, the Hindustan Times reported.

"Our financial condition was very bad. We don't have a house of our own." Kumar said.

Kumar told The Times of India he has been a fan of the game show since he was 11-years-old, but he would have to watch it at friends' houses because of his family's financial situation. He said his friends encouraged him to audition for the show after watching him repeatedly get most of the answers right while watching the program.
