Texas authorities: Stay away from pot farm

HARDIN, Texas, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Authorities in Texas said they are trying to discourage people from going sightseeing at the location where 6,000 stalks of marijuana were seized.

Liberty County sheriff's deputies said people have been coming out to the grow site just outside Hardin, with some saying they wanted to see the location where investigators seized more than $4 million worth of pot last week and some admitting they were looking for leftover cannabis, the Houston Chronicle reported Monday.

The sheriff's office said Logan Williamson was arrested on a paraphernalia charge when he visited the site.

Sheriff's spokesman Capt. Rex Evans released a written statement pleading with the public to stay away from the location.

"There are no souvenirs or remaining marijuana plants which may have been missed by the LCSO, state or federal agents," the statement reads.

"The LCSO wants to remind everyone, please, for your own safety, DO NOT, for any reason attempt to go or 'sight see' near this property," Evans wrote. "While the LCSO and agents believe any and all countermeasure devices have been located and disabled or destroyed, a danger or risk are always present during and after such an operation."

"There is absolutely nothing there of value to anyone," Evans said.
