NEW YORK, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- A man said he was taking the New York subway home from work on his 10th wedding anniversary when he encountered the violinist who played his wedding.

Kevin Dooley said he was at Penn Station waiting for the downtown 2 train Thursday, the day of his anniversary, when he heard a musician he recognized as "the same violinist we hired to play at our wedding exactly 10 years ago," the New York Post reported Tuesday.

"I walked right up to him while he was playing and said, 'You probably don't remember me, but you performed at my wedding 10 years ago, and today is my anniversary,'" he said.

The musician, James Graseck, 59, said he could not say no when Dooley asked him to surprise his wife during their planned Saturday brunch.

"There was no question I'd do it," Graseck said. "For him to find me 10 years later on a (subway) platform I only play on once every two weeks is nothing short of amazing."

Dooley said his wife, Maile, was shocked when Graseck arrived at their Smithtown, N.Y., home.

He joked the stunt likely "bought me 10 more years of marriage."
