ORRINGTON, Maine, July 19 (UPI) -- Workers at a Maine country club said a red fox that has been living in the area for about two years has recently taken to stealing balls from golfers.

Tom Bryant, operations manager of the Rocky Knoll Country Club in Orrington, said the fox was first spotted on the golf course about two years ago, but he only got into the habit of stealing golf balls during "the last three or four months," WABI-TV, Bangor, reported Tuesday.

"It happens quiet frequently, yes," said Pat LeFebvre, who works at the clubhouse. "It's funny, it's just funny to watch the fox come out, grab it and run back into the woods."

Bryant said officials have no plans to take action against the animal.

"He's part of the family and a lot of them think that I trained him so that we can resell the balls afterwards," Bryant said.
