WASHINGTON, Calif., April 26 (UPI) -- A geologist who assisted with the $460,000 sale of a gold nugget found in California said he will return to the site to search for more gold.

Fred Holabird, who helped with the March auction in Sacramento, said he will return to the site near Washington, Calif., where the 8.2-pound gold nugget was discovered, KCRA-TV, Sacramento, reported Tuesday.

"The landowner made a one-in-a-billion find. The chances of another find that big are remote. But, if you owned the land, wouldn't you want to search further?" asked Holabird.

The geologist said he will use deep ground-penetrating radar in the area in mid-May in an attempt to determine whether more gold is buried near the town.
