ORLANDO, Fla., April 11 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said a pair of sheriff's deputies with a pool net and firefighters with a hydraulic lift rescued nine ducklings from a drainage grate.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said Deputies Miguel Rosario and Armando Borrero responded to the Hair Cuttery on Landstar Boulevard in Orlando and found a mother duck standing over a drainage grate with the baby birds trapped below, WKMG-TV, Orlando, reported Monday.

The deputies couldn't lift the grate so Orange County firefighters responded with a hydraulic lift to remove the heavy piece of metal. Borrero used a pool net from his home to fish the ducklings out, and he and Rosario reunited them with their mother.
