CHICAGO, April 1 (UPI) -- Chicago Public Schools officials said they are investigating after a teacher posted pictures of a 7-year-old's Jolly Rancher-inspired hairdo on Facebook.

Lucinda Williams said her daughter, a second grader at Overton Elementary School, asked to have the Jolly Rancher candies tied to the ends of her braids like she had seen in a magazine for school picture day and she later learned the girl's teacher had posted pictures of the hairdo on Facebook and led others in mocking the style, the Chicago Tribune reported Friday.

Williams said she complained to the principal and the teacher told her the pictures had been taken down.

However, the mother said what bothers her "is that (the teacher) still hasn't apologized to my baby."

"No child should have to go to school to be bullied by their teacher," she said.

"This was a good teacher, but this was a case of poor judgment," Chicago Public Schools spokeswoman Monique Bond said. "It will warrant disciplinary action."
