Police: Woman took packages from porches

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Police in Newport Beach, Calif., said they arrested a woman who was allegedly stealing Christmas packages from front porches.

Police said Melanie Kathleen Astin, 42, is facing grand theft charges after allegedly stealing several packages left by FedEx and UPS delivery drivers, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

Astin was spotted while allegedly following a delivery truck Thursday and police said she was found to be in possession of several stolen packages.
