SKOKIE, Ill., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Three Chicago teenagers were charged with ditching a dinner bill and drove off with a waiter clinging to the roof rack of their SUV, police said.

The trio was pulled over in suburban Lincolnwood earlier this week after they allegedly drove eight blocks with a waiter from the Buffalo Wild Wings in Skokie hanging on to their vehicle.

The Chicago Tribune said the incident began when servers allegedly saw the three skip out on their $51 bill. Waiter Peter Crotty gave chase and jumped aboard the SUV as it left the parking lot. The SUV went through one red light before pulling behind a building.

"They started getting out of the vehicle," Crotty said. "I was thinking they were going to fight me, so I jumped off."

Crotty told the newspaper he then ran back to the restaurant to finish his shift. "I still had tables," he said.

As for the suspects, they face theft and battery charges.
