NEW YORK, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- A 13-year-old New York girl took home the $50,000 top prize from the LG-sponsored National Texting Championship.

Brianna Hendrickson bested eight other finalists by text messaging a verse from the children's song "Old McDonald" in only 60 seconds, the New York Daily News reported Wednesday.

Hendrickson, who said she regularly composes about 6,000 text messages per month, will now move on to a charity competition, also sponsored by cellphone manufacturer LG, that will give her the chance to win another $50,000 plus $50,000 for charity.

"It's a completely amazing feeling," the teenager said after winning the competition in New York.
