ALBUQUERQUE, July 27 (UPI) -- Residents of an Albuquerque neighborhood said cows have been wandering through the area at night, eating grass and leaving droppings.

The neighbors in the Storm Cloud subdivision said cows from a nearby farm begin arriving at nightfall and eat plants and grass from their yards and public parks, KOAT-TV, Albuquerque, reported Tuesday.

"There were probably about ten or 15 cows in the park and they were just eating the grass," local man Eric Lopez said of the last time he spotted the herd.

Lopez said his family has called the Albuquerque Police Department three times about the cows during the past month, and they were told police are working with the owner of the farm to try to prevent the cows from escaping through a damaged fence.

The chairman of the New Mexico State Livestock Board said he plans to send an inspector out to the area.
