Deputies arrived to mediate the conflict between residents and motorist and they recognized Kubinec as a suspect from two robberies that same day.

Investigators said Kubinec entered a Circle K store in Pompano Beach at about 2 a.m. Saturday and pretended like he was planning to buy an energy drink. However, when he reached the counter he brandished a knife and demanded money from the clerk.

He also allegedly entered a Kwik Stop store at about noon that same day and attempted a similar crime but was foiled when the clerk pulled out a baseball bat. Both times the suspect was seen fleeing in a white truck.

Deputies said Kubinec sped down the dead end while fleeing the alleged second crime.
