SHALER, Pa., May 6 (UPI) -- A Pennsylvania couple accepted plea bargains that will keep them out of jail for a wedding day brawl at a Holiday Inn.

David Wielechowski of Shaler, Pa., 33, pleaded guilty to simple assault charges and was sentenced to probation and community service while his wife, Christa, 26, pleaded no contest to six summary counts of harassment and was sentenced to 180 days of house arrest, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Wednesday.

Witnesses said the wedding brawl started with an argument between the bride and groom and escalated when someone from another wedding party attempted to mediate the dispute.

Deputy District Attorney Laura Ditka said the victims supported the plea deal. She said they approved of the probation for David Wielechowski, who could have lost his license to practice dentistry if he had been convicted on the original felony charge of aggravated assault.

Common Pleas Judge John Zottola also ordered the couple to pay the Holiday Inn in Ross, Pa., for the damage caused during last year's wedding melee.
