FARMINGTON, Mo., Oct. 8 (UPI) -- An alleged scuffle over doughnut has spiraled into a robbery charge that could land the alleged pastry thief in a Missouri state prison for as long as 15 years.

Scott Masters was arrested for allegedly trying to steal a doughnut from a store in Farmington, Mo., but he was indicted recently on a charge of strong-arm robbery that could put him in prison for up to 15 years.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch said Monday that St. Francois County, Mo., prosecutors decided to throw the book at Masters due to his criminal record and because he shoved the female clerk who allegedly tried to stop him.

Nevertheless, Masters has become known as “Doughnut Man” around Farmington and insisted to the newspaper that he would never push someone over a doughnut that cost less than a dollar.
