HARROGATE, England, May 9 (UPI) -- A 2-year-old boy who fell halfway down a 60-foot cliff while on vacation at the British seaside may just want to call his dad "Spiderman" from now on.

Ian Gillespie scrambled down the cliff's face, holding an electricity cable exposed by erosion, to reach his son, Daniel.

"I know I should not have done it," Gillespie, 38, told The Telegraph. "But when you see your 2-year-old son wandering about half way down a cliff it is difficult. I just felt I had to get down there quickly."

Officials said Daniel, who suffered only cuts and bruises, was lucky he fell where he did because the cliff has a sheer drop on either side.

The dramatic rescue convinced the family to end their vacation in Norfolk and head home to Harrogate, the Telegraph reported.
