TAMPA, Fla., March 9 (UPI) -- A Florida woman who got stuck in traffic on her way to the hospital gave birth in a van with some help from her mother and her grandmother's nurse.

Juliann Coder, 18, was trying to get to St. Joseph's Hospital for Women in Tampa Thursday morning, the Tampa Tribune reported. She was on Interstate 275 when she and her companions realized her baby wouldn't wait.

Nurse Lucian Knott coached Coder, at first trying to get her to hold back so they could get her off the road. But the new baby, Aireanna Mae, refused to wait and was delivered with no problems shortly after the family left the interstate and pulled over.

"Lucian delivered her," said new grandmother Diane Handley. "She was born on the road, in the middle of traffic, at the corner of Central and Hillsborough."
