Boy's tongue sticks to stop sign

WAUKESHA, Wis., Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Police in Waukesha, Wis., were called to rescue a boy who got his tongue stuck to a metal stop sign on a day when the thermometer registered 9 degrees.

Reminiscent of a situation in the movie "A Christmas Story," officers Daniel Baumann and Raymond Fuerstenberg used warm water to free the boy's tongue while a group of friends looked on, The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports.

In the movie, a character named Flick is goaded -- "triple-dog dared" --into sticking his tongue to a pole.
