LADY LAKE, Fla., Dec. 23 (UPI) -- A home in Lake County, Fla., is keeping its holiday display that features more than 100,000 Christmas lights despite complaints from worried neighbors.

Some have compared the Christmas display to the hapless Griswold family's over-the-top decorations in the 1989 movie "Christmas Vacation" that starred Chevy Chase.

WKMG-TV, Orlando, said Saturday that Ron Troutman and his wife have been decorating their home since before Halloween and would not succumb to complaints that the display was a safety hazard.

To the delight of the crowds, city officials in Lady Lake decided they would allow the Troutmans to keep their home decorated through the Christmas holiday season.

Troutman told the television station: "I enjoy Christmas. I don't do golf because it costs thousands of dollars to do golf. I do Christmas and we get all the joy."
