NEW YORK, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- A New York woman is suing an ad company after discovering pictures of her and her now-deceased dogs in an ad for a pet cremation service.

The New York Daily News reported that Gina Cecala was "outraged, embarrassed and traumatized" after seeing the photos of her and her dogs being used to promote "something of such a morbid nature as pet cremation."

The Matthews International ads reportedly used an image of Cecala cradling her dogs for the cremation ad. In the picture, the dogs, both Chihuahua and terrier mixes, appear clad in Italian sweaters.

"She makes sure they eat right, get plenty of exercise and that their sweaters always match," the ad reads. "So what is it worth to offer their owner a little peace of mind once they're gone?"

The picture was said to have been taken in 1992 by an amateur photographer. It wound up in the archives of Getty Images, a photo agency, which then sold it for use in a national ad campaign, the newspaper said

The lawsuit against Matthews International also targets Getty Images. It seeks $3 million and a stop to the sale of the picture on Getty's Web site.
