CHATTANOOGA, Tenn., July 15 (UPI) -- A volunteer for Tennessee Senate candidate Bob Corker says he was almost run down by a man from a rival campaign who was wearing a chicken suit.

Bryan Shannon says the chicken-suited man tried to run him down, while the chicken-suited man says Shannon attacked his car, the Nashville Tennesseean reported.

Corker is one of three candidates seeking the Republican nomination for the seat now held by Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, who is not seeking re-election. The chicken-suited man, who works for a rival candidate, has been following Corker, alleging he is a coward for refusing to debate.

"Bob Corker and his campaign need to lighten up and get a sense of humor or enroll in anger-management class," said Michael Luethy, campaign manager for Ed Bryant.

Luethy described the confrontation with Shannon as a physical assault on the car.
