MURFREESBORO, Tenn., May 10 (UPI) -- The owner of a Tennessee store foiled a robber by chasing him with a pair of scissors and holding him until police arrived.

Tim Davis, owner of the Salt and Pepper Christian Store in Murfreesboro, Tenn., said the would-be robber went behind the store counter Saturday and showed him a note that said: "Give me all the money. I have a gun and I will use it quickly."

Davis refused. He said the robber may have had a knife, but it didn't look like the man had a gun -- so he grabbed a pair of scissors.

When the robber didn't pull out a weapon, Davis said he knew the man was unarmed. The robber fled, Davis chased him, and cornered him in the back of the shopping center where the store is located.

He then called police who arrived and arrested the man, whose name was being withheld, the Murfreesboro Daily News reports.

Davis said chasing a robber isn't the best idea, but he wanted to prevent the man from robbing others.

"The only thing I did wrong was run with a pair of scissors," said Davis.
