INDIANAPOLIS, April 28 (UPI) -- Two 14-year-old Indiana girls have been charged with animal cruelty for kicking a cat wrapped in plastic and posting video of it on the MySpace Web site.

Prosecutors filed the misdemeanor charges after receiving a letter from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals earlier this month, the Indianapolis Star reported Friday.

The teens posted a nearly two-minute long video clip on MySpace, a Web site popular with young adults and teens, showing the girls dropping, shoving and kicking the shrink-wrapped cat. A PETA official told the newspaper the animal rights group learned of the video on April 12.

Animal control officers removed the 19-pound cat, named Stump, from the home.
