BOYNTON BEACH, Fla., March 8 (UPI) -- A Florida couple's good deed of returning a lost diamond ring has made them national celebrities.

Lt. John Kilcooley of the Boynton Beach Fire Rescue Department and his wife, Una, found a diamond ring concealed behind a light fixture when they were renovating their bathroom. They traced the house's previous owners and discovered that it belonged to Bill and Marlene Kiraly, who had hidden it so well they had forgotten where.

Publicity about the return has brought invitations from a number of television shows. Ellen DeGeneres canceled an appearance but Inside Edition has already aired its report.

Kilcooley told the Palm Beach Post that returning the ring, once they had found out it was 3 carats in weight and worth thousands of dollars, was just a matter of course. Una Kilcooley has already had a chance to do a similar good turn when she found a wallet in a shopping cart.
