A 21-year-old snake charmer, Mohd Shaiful Abdul Aziz, and his 19-year-old brother captured the snake after it was found hiding in the bushes at the center.

Hasnan Yusop, director of the National Parks and Wildlife Department, said that the snake was comparatively easy to handle because it had just eaten a monitor lizard. He was glad that the brothers were able to take the snake unharmed.

"Some people take the easy way out by killing the snake," Hasnan said. The king cobra is a protected species."

The king cobra is the world's longest venomous snake.
