CHICAGO, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Chicago has joined the ranks of Los Angeles and other cities with franchises of Lucky Strike Lanes, the swank, upscale bowling lounge.

In addition to bowling, the lounge, which opened Thursday in the Windy City, will feature martinis and music, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.

There is already a 10-year-old bowling alley in Chicago with the name Lucky Strike. But instead of fighting over the name, the two firms reached a deal under which the older Lucky Strike will change its name in exchange for financial and marketing help from its new competitor.

The upscale bowling concept has taken off in recent years, the report said. Lucky Strike Lanes, which has drawn celebrities such as Paris Hilton to its Hollywood spot, has opened 10 other locations in the United States and Canada since 2003. But the Chicago location, at 36,000 square feet, will be its largest.
