LONDON, June 26 (UPI) -- British Maxim advises U.K. men men with a penchant for pedicures, fruit smoothies and miniature dogs may be a path to extinction.

Greg Gutfeld, Editor of the British edition of Maxim, says the appeal of metrosexual men such as actors Jude Law and Orlando Bloom -- who have an interest in clothes and facials -- is on the way out because women prefer more macho men like Colin Farrell, Bruce Willis and Russell Crowe, reported the Sunday Telegraph.

American Maxim, one of the largest-selling men's magazines in the world, says "mantropy" is "a silent killer which strikes men in the prime of life" and men should be macho rather than manicured, indulging their passion for cars rather than clothes.

Meanwhile, men and women are increasingly turned off by media images of well-groomed, feminine-looking men, according to a Leo Burnett Man study.

Seventy-five percent of the men said images of men in advertising were out of touch with reality.
