University hosts beer can exhibition

HOBART, Australia, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Australia's University of Tasmania is hosting its annual Beer Can Collectors convention this weekend.

This year's "Canathon," as it's called, features 70 delegates from Australia and overseas, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported Saturday.

"Some members have as much as 60,000 cans," organizer Bron Hogan told ABC.

Unfortunately, the exhibit can only display about 3,500 cans.

"These people, the average is 5,000 beer cans, but they also tend to collect things like beer glasses and bar mats, can openers and the runners, anything that has a beer logo on it," she said.

The Canathon is open to the public.
