The Miami Herald reported Wednesday eBay had removed jewelry designer Diana Duyser's sandwich citing a rule forbidding "listings that are intended as a joke." Advertisement "When the item was pulled, it was taken down for a reason that, in retrospect, was a mistake," eBay spokesman Hani Durzy said. "We're human over here." The half of a grilled cheese sandwich, aged 10 years, is pulling in hundreds of bids. The top bid was $22,000 when eBay pulled the sandwich from its site. Duyser, of Hollywood, Fla., reposted the half a grilled cheese Monday, with the auction to continue through 8:22 p.m. next Monday. With features on numerous media outlets, by late Tuesday the half sandwich was getting 1,000 hits a minute and had been viewed 200,000 times, the Herald reported. Ebay is helping Duyser weed out fake bids, with the top bid hitting eBay's limit of $99.9 million. In the end, Duyser said of the sandwich, "I just want to see her go to a nice home, someone that will take good care of her." Advertisement
