Man accused of robbing stores with fake gun

TOKYO, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Shinji Hasegawa, accused of using his finger in his pocket as a fake gun in more than 30 robberies in Japan, has been arrested.

The Mainichi Daily News reported Monday Hasegawa was arrested and charged with a June video rental store robbery in Tokyo. He is accused of taking nerly $1,500 from clerks after putting his finger in his pants pocket pretending to be armed. Police said that in addition to robbing five stores in the Tokyo Metropolitan area of about $6,000, he used the same tactic in dozens of other robberies at stores in other areas.
