NEW YORK, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- The foreman of a jury that convicted a Gambino family hitman of plotting to kill Salvatore "Sammy Bull" Gravano wants the judge to be lenient in sentencing.

The New York Post said the unidentified juror told a deputy to Brooklyn federal Judge Allyne Ross he had reluctantly agreed to convict Thomas Carbonaro because other jurors were tired of deliberating.

Carbonaro was convicted of murder conspiracy for stalking his former friend, Gravano, in Arizona under orders from Gambino boss Peter Gotti.

The Post said Ross told the juror: "I understand ... you feel guilty because you were a holdout on the jury and that you voted for conviction because others wanted to go home." But she instructed the juror "once a verdict is rendered in open court, it can't be redone."

The jury foreman then asked Ross to go easy on Carbonaro at sentencing.
