LONDON, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- A British inventor will unveil a vacuum cleaner next year smart enough to make its own call for service, a newspaper reported Monday.

James Dyson, who made his name in the vacuum industry by inventing a bagless system, says his computerized "talking" machine keeps track of how and how often it is used, the Glasgow Evening Times reported.

"If there is a problem or you need a new part, you ring up the helpline, simply put the receiver against the vacuum cleaner, and press the button," said Dyson. "In about 10 seconds the cleaner will download its personal information to another computer at the call center, allowing a technician to see the problem."

Dyson is especially pleased with the new motor he deveolped, which has the power-to-weight ratio of a Ferrari Formula 1 car, is three times faster than a normal vacuum cleaner and has a third more suction, he claims.
