The 12-song disc, produced by Garry Tallent, is set for release on Oct. 8 on Koch Records.

Forbert, a Meridian, Miss., native like Rodgers, said he chose the 12 songs from more than 110 recorded by the man widely considered country music's first superstar.

Rodgers, who became known as the "Mississippi Blue Yodeler," died of tuberculosis in 1933.

Rodgers was the Country Music Hall Of Fame's first inductee when it opened in 1961, and was named a "Founding Father" of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of Rodgers' first recording session with RCA Victor.

DUI CHARGES AGAINST MARTY STUART DROPPED

A drunk driving charge against country singer Marty Stuart has been dropped.

A Nashville judge ruled Tuesday there was no probable cause for police to stop 43-year-old Stuart.

Police said they arrested Stuart in April on a charge of driving under the influence after receiving a call he had left a store intoxicated.

The four-time Grammy winner was found guilty of refusing to take a breathalyzer test, which means his driver's license will be suspended for one year.
