CANADA: The Mexican army is mobilized as opposition leader Cuauhtemoc Cardenas leads a massive crowd protesting election fraud in Mexico City, on December 1, 1988, during President Salinas Gotari's Inauguration. Months earlier ballot counting was halted allegedly due to computer glitches as Cardenas took an early lead in Mexican presidential elections; several days later PRI candidate Salinas Gotari won by the slightest of margins. Cuautemoc Cardenas is now one of the leading candidates in Mexico's upcoming election. hr/H Ruckemann UPI File Photo
