BRIGHTON AND HOVE, England, May 17 (UPI) -- The husband of Diane Chenery-Wickens killed the BBC make-up artist and did not assist in the four-month search for her missing body, British police allege.

Police have charged David Chenery-Wickens, 51, in the BBC employee's death after her remains were found this week in the county of East Sussex, The Daily Telegraph reported Saturday.

While the remains have officially been determined to be those of the 48-year-old make-up artist, no official cause of death had been established.

The Emmy award-winning make-up artist was reported missing by her husband Jan. 24 and ensuing searches failed to turn up the woman's body.

The Telegraph said the couple were separated when Chenery-Wickens went missing, but were still living together at the time.

The self-styled spiritualist minister was initially arrested by police after she disappeared, but had remained free on extended bail.
