WASHINGTON, March 27 (UPI) --
U.S. President George Bush invited Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to Washington to discuss the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, the administration said.
Details are being worked out, but Abbas' visit probably would occur in April or early May, spokesman Gordon Johndroe said Thursday during a news briefing.
"It's part of the continuing efforts of President Bush and this administration to work with both the Palestinians and the Israelis, as well as other countries in the region, in realizing a Palestinian state living side by side in peace and security with Israel," Johndroe said.© 2008 United Press International.
