Israel accused of war crimes in Gaza

JERUSALEM, March 3 (UPI) -- Arab rights advocates sent a letter to Israeli defense and justice ministers Monday, accusing them of war crimes for Israel's military incursion into Gaza.

More than100 Palestinians and at least three Israeli soldiers have died since Wednesday in the Israeli military operation aimed at curtailing rocket attacks by Palestinian militants targeting southern Israel.

Lawyers with the Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel said in their letter that the "use of inaccurate weapons violates international law," Ynetnews reported.

The letter states international law is part of Israeli law and, therefore, "Violating the same basic rules of preventing intentional harm to a population, and definitely the killing of civilians, also constitute(s) a criminal offense according to Israeli law."
